Stephen Wood
Stephen Wood believes that art is the search for beauty and truth, and a way to convey these two things, which of course are one in the same. Art does not have to be photo realistic, though it can be. Often times it is more than this, though may appear to be less. It is how the artist views the world. His/her individual reinterpretation of that which is around them, from the physical to the emotional and everything in between. And this does not always come out like a photograph. Stephen Wood is always trying to explore new styles and techniques. His greatest fear is being known as a one trick pony. Though his favorite media is watercolor, he forces himself out of his comfort zone as often as possible. His dream is to be able to take a blank piece of paper and turn it into his world exactly as he envisioned it. He has a ways to go, but will not stop. Stephen Wood is currently attending Northeastern State University trying to hone his skills while gaining a degree in fine arts. He was featured in Native American Photographic Invitational at Gilcrease museum in 2002. Recently he received first place in watercolor and two honorable mentions, one is drawing and the other in printmaking, at the first annual NSU juried student art show. Stephen Wood loves to refer to himself in third person, so if you ever meet him please go along with it. Very rarely is he serious, except about his art. And he loves chocolate cake
